Pest Control and Prevention Tips for Commercial Properties

Roach Cement Pest Control and Prevention Tips for Commercial Properties

Commercial properties often need help with pest control and prevention just as much as residences do. Insect and rodent infestations pose a threat to the health of business owners and their employees as well as affect a company’s reputation for being clean and professional. Pests that can be seen scurrying around tend to make a negative impression on clients and consumers. It’s understandable that there are already numerous duties to attend to when you own a business, but pest control is a responsibility that shouldn’t just be pushed to the side and forgotten about. There are several easy-to-follow tips that will help businesses to ensure they maintain a pest-free property and a healthy work environment.

Keep Up on Property Maintenance

A commercial property needs to be kept up in much the same way as you would a household. No matter who is designated to take care of these tasks, it’s important for a business owner to oversee that they are being done properly, not only for appearance, but also for building preservation and pest prevention. All cracks and holes discovered in the foundation and around doors and windows, however miniscule, should be sealed and secured to avoid allowing insects and rodents easy access indoors. It’s also a good idea to install screens on the windows of businesses that prefer to leave their windows open during pleasant weather.

When considering the construction of a new building, keep in mind that nearby water sources (fountains, ponds, etc.) are a magnet for many kinds of insects and are sure to attract them on a consistent basis. If your property already has these types of landscaping features, make sure they are cleaned out regularly to get rid of stagnant water. The same goes for maintaining drainage pipes and gutters that are in close proximity to the building.

Develop Employee Awareness

Employees should be responsible for keeping any food and drinks they bring onto the premises properly stored and in firmly closed containers that aren’t susceptible to pest intrusion. Any establishment that deals with food service especially will require that all products are appropriately put away and secured as well. It’s well known that even the tiniest food crumbs left out will be an invitation for pests to come right on in. All kitchen and break room surface areas need to be sanitized frequently and the trash taken out daily (preferably to dumpsters that are located far enough away from the building).

Keep a Consistent Schedule with a Pest Control Company

Different pests make their presence known at various times of the year, making year-round pest control a necessity. One of the most effective ways to make certain your business isn’t plagued with creepy crawlers is to have regular pest treatments scheduled throughout the year. A professional pest control company will assist you in achieving a pest-free property with thorough inspections and a treatment program as needed.

Make sure your commercial property and business reputation isn’t suffering from an infestation that could easily be avoided with the proper pest control and prevention techniques.

Great post! It’s amazing how regular maintenance can help lower or reduce your chances to pests. However, it doesn’t prevent them. In my opinion, if an issue becomes problematic, it’s best to hire a professional. They can help save you money, time, and stress, especially if the issue is reoccurring. Thanks for sharing!
