Rat Causes Power Outage On ASU Campus

Power across the western half of Arizona State University was out on Monday after an apparent rat found its way into one of the substations and shorted out the equipment.

Fox News’ Kelly Hessedal reported that the outage caused many professors to cancel or hold their afternoon and evening classes outside, and only a few students stranded inside some elevators needed to be rescued by Tempe Fire Department.

While weather related reasons cause the majority of complications, it is not uncommon for small animals to disrupt transformers and fuses, causing temporary loss of power.
